Even though the first snowflakes had yet to fall by 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, area school districts have announced early dismissal and multiple community events have been cancelled due to an incoming blizzard.

According to a Wisconsin Department of Transportation press release, "snow and wind is expected to significantly impact travel, especially later in the day on Thursday.  A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for many counties in the region from 9 a.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday." WisDOT and the Wisconsin State Patrol will monitor road conditions throughout the storm.

The following is a list of local closures, early dismissals and cancellations:

The playoff hockey game with River Falls for tonight has been cancelled, and has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in Somerset. Currently, Somerset plans on holding evening activities to include practices and the home girls basketball game with Osceola.
