Missing woman found near Willow River State Park

The search for a missing person was called off last week in Willow River State Park after the woman was found unharmed.

St. Croix County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Scott Knudson said family members reported a woman hadn't returned home by 9 p.m. June 27 from a kayaking trip with friends. Calls to the woman's phone had gone unanswered, so deputies were called in to look for the town of Troy woman.

The woman's vehicle was found at the Willow River State Park parking lot, leading authorities to focus their search on the area. Multiple searches were deployed, Knudson said, and efforts were underway to utilize the Minnesota State Patrol's helicopter in finding the woman.

Knudson said the woman was eventually found near the state park at about 11:15 p.m.

"She was found safe with those she'd been kayaking with," Knudson said.
