Four Tigers, two Spartans are all-MBC in vball

Four seniors from the New Richmond volleyball team that placed second in the Middle Border Conference were chosen as members of the 2003 all-conference team.

Somerset also had two players earn their way onto the all-MBC team for 2003.

New Richmond's Jessica Mitchell and Shannon Timm were named to the all-MBC first team. Somerset's Mariah Belisle and Ashley Riedesel were also named to the all-conference first team. New Richmond seniors Nicole Borgen and Cassie Peterson were named to the all-MBC honorable mention list.

Mitchell was one of the most versatile and talented players in the conference. She ranked first in the conference in digs, second in kills and fourth in percentage of ace serves.

Timm also had a strong overall season. She ranked second in the conference in digs and she was eighth in the conference in kills.

Peterson was the conference leader in assists this season. Borgen was the Tigers' primary middle hitter, ranking ninth in the conference in kills.

Belisle was the Spartans' strongest outside hitter, after moving from middle hitter early in the season to help balance the team's attack.

Riedesel moved into the setting role for the Spartans this season and ended up ranking third in the conference in assists.
