Romantic comedy returns to Old Gem

The smash-hit romantic comedy, "Adventures in Mating" returns to the Old Gem Theater on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Never the same show twice, Adventures in Mating is a unique interactive comedy in which the audience chooses the course of the action without ever leaving their seats.

Inspired by Choose Your Own Adventure novels, the course of this scripted comedy show is determined by the audience. The story unfolds in vastly different directions. With multiple storylines, endings and an ever-changing assortment of scene choices.

When a dysfunctional couple meets for a blind date and can't make simple decisions, such as which wine to order, the audience votes and determines the path of their date. Red wine, white wine, or rosé? Soup or salad? Kiss or slap? The audience determines the outcome of the date; any and all choices lead to a side-splittingly funny evening.

Developed and premiered in Minneapolis by actor and playwright Joseph Scrimshaw, Adventures in Mating is now playing in New York, Seattle, England and Bulgaria. Scrimshaw, a perennial Old Gem resident actor, has brought the show to the Old Gem previously for public and private parties.

Starting this Valentine's Day, there are now new scenes, new storylines, more choices and more endings than ever before. Adventures in Mating has been playing weekly to sell-out crowds in Minneapolis since last Valentine's Day.

The production stars, Mo Perry and Joseph Scrimshaw as first date victims Miranda and Jeffrey, and Jim Robinson as the waiter.

All tickets are $15.
