Badger men start 2008 hockey season against top-rated opponents
The University of Wisconsin men's hockey team won't play any cup-cakes before starting its conference schedule next fall.
The Badgers' announced their 2008-09 schedule Tuesday and they'll open at NCAA champion Boston College on Oct. 10.
The next night, Wisconsin will play New Hampshire, winners of the Hockey East Conference.
The Badgers will then open WCHA play the following weekend at Denver.
Wisconsin's first home games are Oct. 24 and 25 against Minnesota.
The Badger Hockey Showdown will be played Dec. 27 and 28 at the Kohl Center, with a field that includes Harvard, Lake Superior State and Alabama-Huntsville.
Wisconsin will play 20 of its 36 regular season contests against teams that made the NCAA Tournament this past spring.
Next year's NCAA Frozen Four will be played in Washington, D.C. April 9-11.
Coach Mike Eaves' Badgers are expected to have 21 of their 26 letter-winners back next season.
