State Farm sets up catastrophe tent
Due to heavy hail damage throughout the St. Croix County area from last Sunday's storm, State Farm Insurance Company brought their catastrophe team to New Richmond to deal with the multitude of claims.
They set up a large tent in the parking lot where the Blue Ribbon Feed Company was formerly located.
"Losses to our customers in this area are substantial enough for us to declare this as a catastrophe site," explained State Farm estimator Alton Collins.
The tent went up Thursday and the claims adjusters and estimators saw more than 20 customers with vehicle damage that day.
"Now we have appointments scheduled every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. today, tomorrow and possibly Sunday and Monday," said Bob Roiger, State Farm trainer.
Roiger said cars from south of town are not as severely damaged as those from north of town.
"We've seen several vehicles from north of town with broken windshields from the hail," commented Roiger.
