Hop on the bus for trip to positivity

Tired of all the negative news about the economy? Get on the bus.

The author of the popular book "The Energy Bus" is coming to New Richmond.

Jon Gordon will be speaking to the community the evening of Wednesday, April 22, at the R&D Banquet Facility. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the New Richmond Area Community Foundation.

J.A. Counter & Associates of New Richmond, along with several other sponsors, are making the presentation possible.

"Our focus and goal is this would be a community event and a positive event," said Katie Cole, employee benefits salesperson with J.A. Counter and one of the event coordinators. "We want to inject some positive energy in this time of negative news."

According to Jillian Luken, account manager at J.A. Counter, the local company's founder read the book and was impressed by its message. He purchased copies of "The Energy Bus" for every J.A. Counter & Associates employee.

Several of the employees also were able to hear author Gordon speak at a recent seminar and they became convinced that the community should host the author at a local event, Luken said.

"It's all about being able to make a choice about which road you will take in life -- negative or positive," she said.

"The Energy Bus" takes readers on an enlightening ride that reveals 10 secrets for approaching life and work with the kind of positive, forward thinking that leads to true accomplishment - at work and at home.

According to Gordon, everyone faces challenges and every person, organization, company and team will have to overcome negativity and adversity to define themselves and create their success.

No one goes through life untested and the answer to these tests is positive energy -- the kind of positive energy consisting of vision, trust, optimism, enthusiasm, purpose and spirit that defines great leaders and their teams, he claims.

Drawing upon his experience and work with thousands of leaders, sales professionals, teams, non-profit organizations, schools and athletes, Gordon infuses his book with insights, strategies and a big dose of infectious energy.

Gordon also authored "The No Complaining Rule: Positive Ways to Deal with Negativity at Work."

His next book, "Training Camp: What the Best do Better than Everyone Else," is scheduled for release in May.

Gordon and his books have been featured on NBC's Today Show, CNN, Forbes magazine, Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
