New Richmond man dies in 3-car crash near Wilson

A 43-year-old New Richmond man was killed late Friday afternoon near Wilson after his Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line, side-swiped one car and struck another head-on.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as John Geving.

Court records show Geving's last known address was in New Richmond, but he previously resided in Hudson.

Geving was southbound on Hwy. 128 at 60th Avenue in the town of Cady at 5:11 p.m. when he allegedly side-swiped a northbound Toyota Avalon driven by Elisabeth Tirado, 26, of Hudson then struck another northbound car head-on.

The third vehicle, a 2001 Volkswagon Golf, was driven by Glenn Lehrke, 36, of Knapp.

EMS personnel had to extricate Lehrke from his vehicle. He was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. His condition wasn't available Saturday afternoon.

A passenger in the Tirado vehicle, Keila Tirado, 24, of River Falls, was transported by ambulance to Baldwin Area Medical Center with injuries. Driver Elisabeth Tirado and another passenger, Dorcas Stauffer, 27, of Glenwood City, were not injured.

The occupants of all three vehicles were wearing seat belts, according to the sheriff's department.

Assisting deputies were United Fire & Rescue, Glenwood City and Spring Valley EMS, the State Patrol and the Wisconsin DNR. River Falls EMS personnel shifted an ambulance and personnel to Baldwin during the incident to help provide coverage.

Mr. Geving's death was the second of the year on St. Croix County roads.
