Local residents form cast for Players production

New Richmond residents George Gfall, Robert Bauer, Darryl Boyland, Zach Dodge, Julia Ybarra-Young, Melanie Holzbauer, Bryly Rusch, Jill Schreck and Sue Franchere have been cast in Willow River Players upcoming production of "American Idle: Murdering the Music."

Also from New Richmond are stage manager David Lee and Patrick Lokker who will be helping behind the scenes.

This full length comic parody of the popular talent show features a studio audience, three in-fighting judges and 10 final talent-challenged contestants who hope to sing their way into becoming the next pop sensation.

But victory takes a backseat to survival as death threats become a reality and bodies pile up backstage. Never fear -- the music will continue to be murdered.

Other cast members include Ambrosia Webb and Janet Fogg of Hudson; Kathleen Madland and Kristina Larson of Spring Valley; Marjean Rowen, Chad Leonard and Mary Doll of Amery; Jeremy Richter of St. Croix Falls; and Cody Wilcoxson of Clear Lake.

Willow River Players, a community theatre organization based out of New Richmond, has a long standing tradition of bringing exceptional entertainment to local audiences.

"We're really excited about the number of people involved in this show, especially bringing so many of them from our surrounding communities. Having new people working with WRP is what it's all about," said Cindy Brown, Willow River Players president.

When WRP started back in 1996, they were doing dinner theatre shows.

"We are excited to be returning to the dinner theatre setting. Ready Randy's has been great to work with and they are also looking forward to being involved with community theatre through this show," added Carla Kelley.
