Middle Border Conference baseball, softball standings get shook up

Big chances took place at the top of the Middle Border Conference baseball and softball standings on Thursday.

New Richmond moved into sole ownership of the MBC baseball lead on Thursday with an 8-3 win at Amery.

The Tigers are alone at the top of the MBC standings because Somerset upset Baldwin-Woodville, 9-3. New Richmond now has one loss in MBC action while B-W and Prescott have two losses.

New Richmond and Somerset are back in action on Friday in non-conference road games. New Richmond plays at Menomonie and Somerset plays at Unity.

The next round of MBC games will be played on Monday. New Richmond is at home against Osceola, in a game that has been moved up to 3:30 p.m. Somerset plays at home against Durand.


The New Richmond softball team moved into the MBC lead on Tuesday with a 9-7 win at Amery. On Thursday the Tigers dropped back out of the conference lead.

The Tigers were shocked at Osceola on Thursday, losing 4-1. The Tigers now have two losses in conference play, trailing Amery and Prescott by one game.

Somerset's softball team lost an MBC game to Durand on Thursday, 5-3.

Other sports

The New Richmond boys tennis team scored a 4-3 win over Altoona on Thursday.

New Richmond's girls soccer team lost to Spooner, 2-1. Somerset's girls soccer team scored a 2-0 win over Amery on Thursday.
