Pea Soup Days money results are announced

The results are in: Pea Soup Days was a financial success.

The first fundraising event of the weekend was the 5K run on Thursday, June 10.

According to Dan Powers, one of the organizers of the event, 217 runners raised $1,750 for the Somerset boys and girls basketball programs.

Somerset Fire/Rescue hosted their annual pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Fire Hall.

They were able to raise $4,000 toward a new department rescue boat.

"The new location worked out better than expected," said Travis Belisle, Somerset Fire/Rescue chief, referring to holding the event at the fire hall rather than at the Village Park.

The Somerset Lions Club hosted their first annual Pea Soup Days golf tournament at Bristol Ridge on Friday, June 11. Forty-four people participated and they were able to raise $700, according to Rick Lange, member of Somerset Lions.

That money, and the money from the weekend brat stand at the Holiday Gas Station, will go toward sending a child to Camp Needlepoint this summer.
