Charges have been filed against a New Richmond man in a child sex assault case resulting from alleged incidents in New Richmond over a period of several years.

Bobby Joe Ellis, 42, was charged with felony counts of sex assault of a child, third-degree sex assault and misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sex assault and intercourse with a child.

He is scheduled to make an initial appearance March 17 before Judge Eric J. Lundell.

The criminal complaint alleged Ellis tied a 15-year-old girl to a bed and sexually assaulted her in a New Richmond residence between late March and early April 2007. He allegedly raped her in August 2009 and inappropriately touched her on Feb. 28, 2010.

The charges were filed Feb. 3. The girl, who is now 18, reported the incidents to New Richmond police on Sept. 20.
