Somerset area giving it up for the dogs at fundraising event

The Lookout Patio Bar at 701 Spring St. will play host to some rather distinguished officers on Saturday, May 21.

Four-legged officers, to be exact.

Cash, Doc and Dex -- the three K-9 officers with the St. Croix County Sheriff Department -- will be on hand with their partners to provide demonstrations of the K-9 techniques.

"They'll be at least the three, possibly six dogs there," said Josh Stenseth, patrol deputy for Sheriff Department's K-9 unit. He and Dex have been partners since Stenseth's previous partner, Ace, died earlier this year.

In addition to the K-9 demonstrations, there will also be several family friendly activities such as a jumping castle, dunk tank, fire trucks and water fights. Raffles and prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

From 9 p.m. - 1 a.m., the Dweebs will provide live entertainment.

There is no admission; however, food and beverage will be available for purchase.

The noon to 1 a.m. event is a fundraiser for various K-9 programs in the St. Croix County, Hudson, Barron City and Rice Lake areas.

"We train on a monthly basis," explained Stenseth. He said that the K-9 units have a foundation that helps with the training, certifications and equipment, but this fundraiser will help with additional costs.
