Hammond apartment damaged by fire

Firefighters roll up hoses and put away equipment after putting out an apartment fire on Davis Street in around 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Fire departments were called to 1030 Davis St. in Hammond for a fire in an apartment building at around 1:20 p.m. Oct. 5.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire. It took around 10 minutes to put out the fire, according to United Fire-Hammond Station Assistant Station Chief Erich Weinert.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and estimated damage is unknown.
