UPDATE: Wet road may have led to I-94 motorcycle death
An initial investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol indicates wet road conditions may have been a contributing factor in the accident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on I-94 this morning.
The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The crash occurred at about 9:40 a.m. Friday in a westbound lane of I-94 in Dunn County about five miles west of Menomonie. The accident scene is just east of the St. Croix, Dunn county border.
The male driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was the only occupant of the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around the time of the crash, the area had received intermittent rain showers. Initial investigation has indicated that wet roadway conditions may have been a contributing factor, reported the State Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting agencies included the Dunn County Sheriff's Department.
