Florida man dies from injuries suffered in I-94 crash
John M. Sundeen, an 83-year-old man who was injured in a crash on I-94 late Thursday, Aug. 6, died over the weekend.
According to a release from the St. Croix Count Sheriff's Department, the crash involving Sundeen occurred just after 11 p.m. on the freeway in St. Croix County near Woodville.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the report of the semi truck/car crash at 11:14 p.m. last Thursday night. The report stated that the Dodge Caravan being driven by Sundeen was traveling west on the Interstate and was struck by the semi truck traveling in the same direction and being operated by Corey P. Dicks.
The collision resulted in the van being pushed into the ditch. Sundeen was transported to Regions Hospital. The semi-trailer was empty and Dicks, 46, of Colfax, was not injured.
From the initial investigation it appears the mini-van had slowed and nearly stopped in the traffic lane. Dicks swerved to avoid hitting the van, but couldn't avoid the collision, pushing the van into the ditch.
Assisting agencies included St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department, the Baldwin Police Department, Baldwin Fire and Rescue, and Baldwin EMS.
More details are pending and the crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
