Workplace accident suspected in death of Baldwin man

A worker at a Woodville-based business died Friday after a suspected workplace accident.

Woodville Police Chief Lori Hetfeld said in a news release that officers were called at 2:27 p.m. to St. Croix Castings for a workplace incident.

Baldwin resident Brian Dennis Omann, 41, was pronounced dead on the scene, Hetfeld said.

“Preliminary indications are that this may be an industrial accident,” the release states.

The incident is under investigation by Woodville police, the St. Croix County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

St. Croix Castings is a foundry that produces medium- to small-volume aluminum castings in sand and permanent molds. The company received the 2015 Small Business of the Year Award from the St. Croix County Economic Development Corporation.

Omann was a 1992 graduate of Baldwin High School, according an obituary from O’Connell Family Funeral Home. He was married to Jennifer Omann and was the son-in-law of St. Croix Castings owner Milt Sell.

Brian and Jennifer Omann had three sons.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
