A fire destroyed the garage at the Roger Larson house in Star Prairie Tuesday morning.

New Richmond Fire and Deer Park Fire were called to the house, located at 504 Mill Avenue. Larson said he was in the house, having lunch around 11:30 a.m., when neighbors alerted him to the garage being on fire.

"I didn't hear anything," he said.

Larson thought for a moment of trying to save some items that were in the garage, but realized it was too late.

Those items included a 2016 Ford pickup, a 1951 Chevrolet convertible, lawn mower, pressure washer and an air compressor. The house sustained some smoke damage, but fire crews were able to limit most of the damage to the garage.

Larson was uninjured.
