Baldwin man killed in one-vehicle crash

TOWN OF SALEM -- A 23-year-old Baldwin man was killed Monday night, Nov. 14, after his vehicle struck a tree and started on fire.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the one-vehicle crash scene at 6:18 p.m. near the intersection of County Road A and 420th Street in the town of Salem.

Matthew Levi Davis had been driving a 2001 Audi northbound on County Road A when it lost control, hit a tree and started on fire. Authorities pronounced Davis dead at the scene.

Ellsworth Fire and EMS, Maiden Rock EMS and Pierce County Highway Department assisted Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
