Two injured in Jan. 31 accident in town of Cylon
A two-vehicle accident on Highway 63/64 in the area of 240th Street in the town of Cylon Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 4:41 p.m., sent two to the hospital with injuries.
According to St. Croix County Chief Deputy Scott Knudson, Paul A. Belisle, 56, New Richmond, was westbound in a 1998 Dodge Intrepid when he is believed to have lost control on the ice- and slush-covered roads and crossed into the path of Dana J. DeSmith, 43, Glenwood City, who was eastbound in a 2002 Toyota RAV4.
The airbags deployed in both vehicles and both drivers were wearing seat belts.
DeSmith was transported to Westfields with serious injuries, while Belisle was also transported with minor injuries.
According to Knudson, law enforcement did not divert traffic, but did say that some traffic was detoured around the scene via 240th Street by firemen. He also said the detour was brief. "Traffic was slowed and delayed until we completely opened the road and cleared the scene at 6:14 p.m."
Law enforcement responding to the accident scene were deputies from the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Wisconsin State Patrol.
