UPDATE: State Patrol releases name of driver in I-94 crash

According to an initial report released by the Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region Eau Claire Post, a single-vehicle crash killed a Lake Elmo, Minn. man at approximately 10:19 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, on I-94 eastbound at mile marker 22 in St. Croix County, near Baldwin.

The 46-year-old male — Derek Baker — was declared dead at the scene. The Wisconsin State Patrol was first on the scene and assisted by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, the Baldwin Police Department and St. Croix County EMS.

According to the report, upon arrival, State Patrol troopers concluded the single occupant of the vehicle had left the roadway and entered the median. The vehicle then struck the bridge abutment.
