Chiropractor opens new practice in New Richmond

In a ceremony with business leaders in the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday, April 14, Nathan Maier cut the ribbon to formally open Willow River Chiropractic.

The office, located at 1655 Dorset Lane, Suite 300, is situated in the strip mall on the northeast corner of South Knowles Avenue and East Richmond Way.

Maier, originally from Thorp, earned his bachelor’s degree at UW-Stout in Menomonie in applied science with a concentration in biotechnology before receiving his doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington in May 2012.

Since then, Maier has been saving money and preparing to open his own practice in New Richmond where he and wife have lived for the past couple years.

“I looked at all the communities in the area, and I really love New Richmond,” Maier said. “It’s a growing community with a great school system and a brand new high school, and I love the small town feel,” Maier said. “I came from a small town, my wife is from a small town, and that’s where I wanted to be. That’s part of the reason I chose my field is that I can be in a small town and serve the community. I’d like to not just be a business here, but give back and be a participant in the community as well.”

Willow River Chiropractic’s services include chiropractic treatment, Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals and exams, physiotherapies, interferential and ultrasound treatments, and exercise programs.

“Each patient that comes in is going to get an exam, get a treatment plan so we can decide where we need to go with your care, and from there we’ll probably do an adjustment and some form of treatment and possibly a therapy if needed,” Maier said.

Maier said just getting people out of pain is the primary part of the battle, but he seeks to go further.

“The next step is keeping them out of that pain,” Maier said. “Whether its strengthening your core or improving your posture, what I want to do is teach you as a patient how to take an active role in your care.”

Willow River Chiropractic includes a reception area, two chiropractic treatment rooms, a physiotherapy room, a massage room, Maier’s office, storage and restrooms.

Though he doesn’t have a massage therapist currently on staff, he hopes to offer those services soon.

To spur business, Maier is running a special through the rest of April. New patients receive a free exam and consultation.
