Carpet center under new ownership

New Richmond

With the change of its name comes changes to what Abbey Carpet Center, formerly Carpet Center, Inc., offers its customers. The company, which still offers everything it did before the name change, will now also offer more than it did before, including cabinets, carpet cleaning and painting.

"The people who owned it before were good owners and had a good reputation" said new owner of Abbey Carpet Center Peter Wilson. "We have expanded what we can offer our customers but kept the same great staff. We would like to continue to have the opportunity to grow. There was a good business model in place with good systems. We are hoping to continue to make things better for our customers."

With the name and service changes also comes the backing of The Abbey Group, which is a national company.

"Having the backing of the Abbey brand allows us to get better prices because the group has better buying power," said manager Robin Koehnle.

According to Wilson, the Abbey Carpet Center is in the business of giving just about any room in your home or office a facelift.

"We pride ourselves in our promptness and quality, and offer a lifetime warranty on our installations," Wilson said. "We want to make sure the work has been done right. If we go in and completely redo a room or house, we want to back up our work."

The Abbey Carpet Center is still located at the old Carpet Center, Inc. building at 1169 Highway 64 in New Richmond. Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call 715-246-3939 or visit
