An announcement on the City of New Richmond's Facebook page Tuesday, May 2, revealed the city will welcome a new Best Western Plus & Suites to town in the near future.

"New Richmond, also known as 'The City Beautiful,' is a great place to live and work," said Brahms Hospitality representative Heena Brahmbhatt, which will run the hotel. "The city of New Richmond and the Chamber combines a feeling of small-town community involvement with the kind of forward-thinking business sense that is necessary in today's increasingly competitive business environment. We are excited to be part of the New Richmond community. "

The Best Western Plus New Richmond Inn & Suites, which will be an upper-midscale hotel, Brahmbhatt said, will start construction this summer just north of the Goodwill retail store in the city's business and technical park. A groundbreaking for the hotel, located at 240 Paperjack Drive, is tentatively scheduled for June 12.

"(The Stillwater Bridge) was certainly one of the contributing factors as to why we decided to build in New Richmond, but not the only one," Brahmbhatt said. "The demands from growing businesses and local community was a major factor in contributing to our decision to build a hotel."

According to Brahmbhatt, as the owner/operator for Brahms Hospitality, the family-owned business runs two hotels: one in Northern Wisconsin and another in Illinois. She also said the project has been in the works for the last six months.

"It will take approximately nine months to finish construction," Brahmbhatt said. "We are working towards opening the hotel during the last week of March 2018. Hoeft Builder Inc. will be handling the construction for the project. We will have a team of people from the New Richmond area running and operating this hotel."

The hotel will have a total of 60 guestrooms, 12 suites and five extended stay suites with kitchenettes, providing long-term accommodations for guests seeking the perfect combination of hotel and home, Brahmbhatt said.

"Our upper-midscale Best Western Plus New Richmond Inn and Suites hotel will offer guests stylish well-appointed rooms, modern amenities, and thoughtfully designed spaces to meet the needs of business and local travelers and the local community," Brahmbhatt said.

In particular, the hotel will include: a modern and unique exterior, a welcoming lobby, upgraded guestroom finishes and stylish bath amenities, complimentary breakfast in an enhanced dining area, convenient in-room mini-refrigerators, spacious in-room work desks, complimentary high-speed internet (wired and wireless), an in-room coffee maker, a modern fitness center, a business center (with complimentary printing and faxing), an inviting and stylish community area, on-site guest laundry facility, dedicated meeting space and a salt water pool and spa.

"Working with the City of New Richmond was a seamless process," Brahmbhatt said. "We received great support and all of the necessary information from the City of New Richmond in order to move with the project nicely."

From the City of New Richmond's standpoint, Community Development Director Beth Thompson feels that a new hotel moving to New Richmond speaks volumes.

"The fact that another hotel chose New Richmond as its newest location speaks a lot to the growth of our city and this area," said City of New Richmond Community Development Director Beth Thompson. "When a national chain wants to build a hotel in your city, that means they see the potential for growth. We are very excited to move forward with this project."
