Somerset prom goers will sail the night away

Somerset High School’s 2014 Prom is set for Saturday, April 26. The theme this year is “The Great Gatsby.”

The promenade will take place at 5 p.m. in the high school multipurpose room. The promenade is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

The prom dinner and dance will take place aboard the St. Croix River Boat & Packet Co. riverboat Empress, which will sail the St. Croix River. All students participating in the dinner and dance are required to ride the bus to Stillwater to board the boat. Buses will depart from the high school at 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 7 p.m., dancing at 8 p.m.

When the dance concludes at 11 p.m., all students will be bused to The Centre in New Richmond for the Post Prom Party, where they will have the chance to participate ina casino night for fake money to be used on auction items and prizes, a water volleyball tournament, cash machine, swimming, obstacle courses, food and fun.

Prom Queen candidates are Kaitlin Croes, Heather Hartwick, Tayva Strom, Nicole Tetzlaff and Kendrah Wink.

Prom King candidates are John Amundson, Reed Baillargeon, Mitchell Foster, Sam Schoenborn and Jon Sullivan.

Sarah J. Nigbor serves as a regional editor for RiverTown Multimedia, a position she began in April 2017. She joined RiverTown Multimedia in October 2013 as a news reporter for the New Richmond News, before being appointed editor of the Pierce County Herald in Febraury 2015. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Spanish and French in 2001. She completed a minor in journalism in 2004.
