St. Mary brings four new staff members into the fold

St. Mary is welcoming three new teachers and a new principal for the 2014-15 school year.

Below is a list of the new hires and some biographical information about each:

Alycia Anderson

Age: 25

Family: Come from a big family of nine: dad, mom, two sisters and four brothers

Position at St. Mary School: Preschool and wrap around teacher

Education: Early Childhood Education

Previous work experience: Child Care Development Centers

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Love to play and coach hockey. I enjoy being active and being outdoors, hunting, camping, playing softball.

Scott Peterson

Age: 55

Family: Parents in St. Croix Falls, younger sister in Amery, older brother in Illinois, son (23) in Burnsville, Minn., daughter (26) in Daegu, South Korea.

Position at St. Mary School: Math teacher grades 4-8

Education: U of M - Duluth 1981 grad; UW-River Falls 2013

Previous work experience: 27+ years in Sales/Marketing with companies: Pillsbury, Dean Foods Vegetable Company, Ocean Spray, General Mills, Blue Skies Marketing

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Travel, outdoor sports like golf and skiing, reading, time with friends and family.

Gail Vanden Heuvel

Position at St. Mary School: Kindergarten teacher

Education: BS of Elementary Education, Masters in Reading Education

Previous work experience: Four years at St. Mary, first-grade teacher; two years at St. John in Sherwood, Wis., a first-grade teacher.

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Walking in the woods with my dog, reading, spending time with my family.

Terrence Lizakowski

Age: 58

Family: Wife, three grown children

Position at St. Mary School: Principal

Education: Masters in Education Administration from the University of Portland

Previous work experience: Spent 10 years teaching in the Archdiocese of Portland, 20 years teaching in Minnesota public schools.

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Outdoors, camping, fishing, collecting antique toys, reading and an auto enthusiast.

Jordan Willi
Jordan Willi is a reporter for the New Richmond News. Previously, he worked as a sports reporter at the Worthington Daily Globe in Worthington, Minnesota. He also interned at the Hudson Star Observer for two summers and contributed to the Bison Illustrated sports magazine at North Dakota State University.
