Area students participates in SCVMEA Honor's Festival

St. Croix Central

Each year the St. Croix Valley Music Educators Association has an honor's festival for choir and band. Each affiliated school, including St. Croix Central, River Falls, Hudson, Ellsworth, Prescott, Baldwin and New Richmond, select students to bring based on their musical merit, work ethic and commitment to the program. Each group is generally around 100 students. This year the festival was held at the River Falls High School Auditorium.

The 14 SCC choral students who attended this year's event included, Camille Budrow, Robyn Pfeifer, Kolbi Juen, Olivia Boyd, Scott Lyon, Jared Tritz, Ryan Knapton, Hunter Brady, Christopher Harney, Lance Queen, Riley Hackbarth, Meghan Weatherly, Kathryn Morhauser and Sam Flettre.

This year students had the privilege of working with James Kinchen. The much esteemed conductor from University of Wisconsin-Parkside who has also served as the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association President and taken part in many progressive choral committees throughout his career.

Jordan Willi is a reporter for the New Richmond News. Previously, he worked as a sports reporter at the Worthington Daily Globe in Worthington, Minnesota. He also interned at the Hudson Star Observer for two summers and contributed to the Bison Illustrated sports magazine at North Dakota State University.
