FBLA duo places at state for second time
New Richmond High School seniors Grant Riemenschneider and Michael Skoyen have competed at the Wisconsin FBLA State Leadership Conference each of the past two years and they've been placewinners both times.
Riemschneider and Skoyen were fifth place finishers this year, in the global business division. That's where they also competed a year ago, when they were seventh place finishers.
New Richmond FBLA adviser Shelly Huber explained the state procedure:
"They did a lot of studying off of practice tests for their first round objective test. They had an excellent score and they advanced to the second round. During the second round, they were given a random scenario that deals with situations in Global Business and were given 20 minutes to prepare a response. After their 20 minutes was up, they had seven minutes to perform to judges."
There were seven members in the New Richmond FBLA chapter this year. Six of them are seniors.
Skoyen and Riemenschneider also had the opportunity to compete at the FBLA national convention this summer, but they were unable to attend because of prior commitments.
