Fourteen Somerset High School entries earned 1* ratings at the district solo and ensemble festival, which qualifies for them to compete at the state level.

The state music festival will be held on Saturday, May 5, at Eau Claire. The district festival was held April 10 in Amery.

Somerset sent 37 solos and small ensembles to perform at the district festival. Thirty of those entries were Class A entries, which qualified them to advance to the state competition if they received 1* ratings.

Somerset's Kayla Huerta and Zeb Rivard both achieved "Best in Site" awards at the district festival. Being "Best in Site" means that the judge who they performed for picked their event as the best thing they heard throughout the day's festival.

The following Somerset students qualified for state:

Zeb Rivard: Bass Solo and Musical Theatre Solo;

Kayla Huerta: Soprano Solo and Musical Theatre Solo;

Olivia Milles: Soprano Solo;

Ben Garcia: Bass Solo and Musical Theatre Solo;

Kennedi Kjellberg: Soprano Solo;

Tristen Gow; Bass Solo;

Alexis Meuers: Flute Solo;

Mara Erickson: Piano Solo;

Sally Bodlovick: Musical Theatre Solo;

Mackenzie Eickhoff: Alto Solo;

Kayla Huerta, Eve Goldstein and Riley MacDonald: SSA Trio
