The Rotary Club of New Richmond recently announced the five New Richmond High School seniors who met every requirement for this year's STRIVE Scholarship program.

Award winners include: Savana Logan, Presley Flatten, Zachary Brandt, Emily Tunnicliff, and Anthony Rivera.

At the start of the school year, 86 NRHS students chose to enroll in this scholarship program sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Richmond. This program is called the STRIVE Scholarship (Students Taking Responsibility for Virtually Everything) as it was developed to encourage students to strive to do their very best in school by offering an incentive for improvement in grades and attendance during their senior year.

This year, the program culminated with the awarding of five scholarships totaling $6,700 for the students that met the qualifications of improving their grades during their senior year. The students enrolled in STRIVE also must attend regular monthly meetings during the year and are required to maintain at least a 90 percent attendance rate in their classes through the end of the school year as well as an "Empowerment" requirement.

"Congratulations to all of the School District of New Richmond seniors who participated this year. Hopefully, you all learned something new that you can use in the future as you venture into your adult life!" said Rotary Club member Carol De Young.

The Rotary Club of New Richmond is a part of Rotary International and Rotary District 5960.
