Somerset forensics receives "Excellence in Speech" award

The Somerset High School forensics team was one of 17 teams from around the state to receive the "Excellence in Speech" award following the 2018 Wisconsin High School Forensics state speech festival.

Somerset received this honor by ranking among the top 5 percent medal-earning schools at the festival.

Forensics is very strong in the Middle Border Conference. Somerset was one of three MBC schools to be honored with this award, along with Baldwin-Woodville and Ellsworth.

Here is a listing of the medal winners for Somerset at the state festival.

Gold medal recipients: Lexie Meuers, Will Scheder, Amy Lippmann and Sally Bodlovick, Jaden Skwarek-Schwartz and Vienna Branom, Kaylee Erickson, Autumn Wood, Dakotah Johnson, Connor Darrow and Ben Schmitt;

Silver medal recipients: Zeb Rivard, Allison Struemke, Katherine Schroeder, Tristen Gow and Kayla Huerta, Stephanie and Zach Lustig, Burke Meader, David Ortega, Sophia Dunleap, Kenzie Eickhoff's group: Kenzie Eickhoff, Laura McVeigh, Kate Bartig and Katie Tronson;

Bronze medal recipients: Daniel Bierbrauer, Riley MacDonald, Kennedi Kjellberg, Mara Erickson.
