An interactive theater presentation by the National Theatre for Children was performed on Monday, Oct. 13, at the New Richmond Middle School.
Entitled "Mad About Money," the presentation involved short skits and audience interaction to create an attention-grabbing performance that not only entertains the students, but teaches some real-life money skills.
Two actors from The National Theatre for Children donned costumes and gathered input from the students to present topics on four basic money-managing skills: Prioritizing Needs and Wants; The Difference Between Cash and Credit; All About Investing; and The Importance of Starting a Savings Habit.
Financial curriculum materials were sent to the school as a follow up to the presentation.
The presentation, sponsored locally by WESTconsin Credit Union, gives students ideas to apply textbook financial situations to real life. WESTconsin sponsors presentations annually in the Menomonie, Amery, Glenwood City, New Richmond and Woodville school districts.
