Kim Korbel

The City of New Richmond announced Friday, Jan. 3, that it has hired Kim Korbel as its new library director.

Korbel, from Eau Claire, has been the director of the Bloomer Public Library since 2009, where she was previously the Youth Services Librarian. Her first day as director at the Friday Memorial Library in New Richmond will be Feb. 17.

“We are extremely excited to have Kim as an addition to our staff,” said Interim Library Director Jennifer Rickard in a written statement. “Her energy, drive and enthusiasm are exhilarating as we are moving forward with our building project. Also, her outlook on libraries and their philosophies will be a core element to the continual changes in the progressive library world. Her values of lifelong learning are exciting for our staffing as well as future programming of the library.”

The city will be looking to the new library director to be a high-visibility staff member while collaborating and partnering with the community, especially when it comes to moving forward on building a new library facility, according to the statement.

“Kim is extremely knowledgeable, energetic and passionate about libraries and the services they provide,” Rickard wrote. “She will bring a wealth of experience along with many new ideas to the library and the community.”
