ST. CROIX COUNTY: HHS earns child care award

The St. Croix County Health & Human Services Department has been recognized for meeting all performance standards in the administration of the Wisconsin Shares child care subsidy program. A Certificate of Excellence was presented on Thursday, May 15, to St. Croix County during the annual conference of the Wisconsin County Human Services Association in Elkhart Lake.

“The Wisconsin Shares child care subsidy program is a key component for supporting low-income parents who are working or preparing for work by subsidizing child care costs for those families,” said Department of Children and Families Secretary Eloise Anderson. “By recognizing the counties that have demonstrated high performance, we are acknowledging the role that they play in stabilizing families and supporting communities.”

St. Croix County earned the certificate of excellence by maintaining short phone call wait times and improving document processing for parents in need of child care services. The county agency also met the new standards set by DCF for a high level of accuracy in eligibility processing.

The new performance standards were put in place in 2013 in consultation between the Department of Children and Families and the Wisconsin County Human Services Association. The child care standards exhibited by St. Croix County resulted in high quality services to families, significant accuracy in program administration, and conscientious stewardship of the state and federal funds that support the child care subsidy program.
