St. Croix clerk of court votes won’t be reported until 4 p.m. Wednesday

Results for St. Croix County clerk of circuit court write-in candidates will be posted after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, announced County Clerk Cindy Campbell.

Campbell said that because the situation is so unusual and because state rules for write-in candidates have changed, she wants to check over voting reports before announcing totals. Those results will still be unofficial until after the Board of Canvassers meets.

Two registered write-ins are the only announced candidates for the Democratic nomination for the position.

The current clerk of court, Lori Meyer, has taken another job and has left the office, although she had registered as a candidate and her name remains on the ballot as a Republican.

The two who have registered with the county clerk as Democratic write-in candidates are

--Katie Thurmes, Somerset, who has worked for the last nine years in the district attorney’s office, and

--Kristi Severson, Deer Park, who has worked in the clerk of court’s office since 1994 and is currently the interim clerk.

Other results from today’s primary election will be reported tonight.
