Village of Hammond trustees discuss several topics during April 10 meeting
The Village of Hammond Board of Trustees met April 10 for its first scheduled meeting for the month to discuss several topics from the 2016 audit to the need for a new siren on Eulaine Circle.
According to Brock Geyen with Clifton, Larson and Allen, the village's general fund is in decent shape as is the water fund. The one area where the village's finances aren't in great shape is the sewer fund, which is due to the ongoing litigation. But Geyen said the village's finances are overall in good order.
The board also discussed the fact that the siren on Eulaine Circle is failing and a replacement will need to be budgeted in the near future. The cost of a new siren could be up to $12,800.
An update on the raze order for 850 Wolf St. Lot 5 was given by trailer park owner Tony Weber. Weber said he wants to remove the abandoned trailer and replace it with a newer one. It was decided that Weber would work with Brian Wert to obtain a building permit for a new trailer.
A clarification was made during the meeting regarding the public works employees weekend pay. Public works employees will receive two hours of overtime pay plus any additional hours they work, as well as two hours regular pay for being on call.
The board tabled a discussion of a possible temporary moratorium on payment of impact fees until the village attorney can review the valid building permit and possible changes to it.
