I-94 traffic backing up Friday afternoon

Due to ongoing construction in the area and a traffic incident, traffic is backed up along Interstate 94 at mile marker 65 near Eau Claire on Friday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the backup could last as long as two hours.

According to the State Patrol, by 4:09 p.m. the backup had been reduced to two miles. The eastbound ramp at Highway 37 was reopned at that time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area by possibly taking Exit 52, at Highway 29. Motorists travelling in this area should slow down, pay attention and expect delays, officials report.
