The dairy barn owned by John and Eileen Van Dyk at 1741 190th St. in the town of Erin Prairie was destroyed by fire Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Firefighters from New Richmond, Deer Park, United and Baldwin responded to the fire at the Van Dyks’ farm at about 3 p.m.
With the help of neighbors and friends, all the animals that were in the barn were saved and moved away from the barn.
New Richmond Fire Chief Jim Vander Wyst said Wednesday morning he was in the process of preparing his report on the fire so he didn't have all the specifics available. But he did indicate that about 30 firefighters from the four departments responded to the call and it took several hours to bring things under control. No firefighters were injured on the call.
Vander Wyst also said there were seven tankers, two from the New Richmond department and the others from the other responding departments.
The Baldwin Fire Department provided a ladder truck to add to New Richmond's ladder on the scene.
More information about the fire will be provided when it's received. Also look to the Thursday, Aug. 13, print edition of The New Richmond News for a complete story about the Van Dyk fire. (Photos by Ray Rivard)
