Interstate crash Sunday leaves 1 injured in St. Croix County
One person was hospitalized Sunday after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near Roberts.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a 54-year-old woman from Weyerhaeuser, Wis., was taken to Regions Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The woman was a passenger in a Chevrolet pickup truck that was struck by a Ford pickup towing a trailer at about 3:34 p.m. near mile marker 14.
Both vehicles were headed east on the interstate when the Ford experienced a “tire failure,” causing it to lose control and move from the right lane to the left lane, where it struck the Chevrolet.
Both vehicles crashed into the median; the Ford’s trailer overturned.
The injured woman in the Chevrolet was one of two people who needed to be extricated from the truck by emergency crews. The Chevy’s driver, a 51-year-old from Weyerhaeuser, was not injured.
The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old woman, and her two passengers, a 5-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man, were not injured. All occupants of the Ford were from Deer Park.
All five people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
The State Patrol did not release the names of the occupants involved in the crash pending family notification.
State Patrol troopers were assisted by River Falls fire and ambulance, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, Roberts fire and rescue, and the St. Croix County Highway Department.
