Shared document email barrage happening to districts across state

The following message was sent to parents throughout the New Richmond School District concerning an email barrage scam that is happening to school districts across the state of Wisconsin. The district is advising anyone receiving an email from school district staff that you are not expecting and originates from the email host "mailinator.com" to not allow access to your email and delete the emails right away.

"Dear Parents,

You most likely have received a group of emails with a shared document reference (Google Docs) from various people within our District. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW ACCESS AND DELETE.

If you allowed access please change your email password.

This email barrage is happening to school districts throughout the state of Wisconsin. Our IT Department is working on blocking the email host (mailinator.com).

We apologize for the inconvenience and please know we are working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Respectfully,

Patrick B. Olson

District Administrator
