Village of Hammond to seek TEA grant
At their meeting Monday night, Village of Hammond Trustees voted to approve spending $21,700 on preliminary site work including map and survey work in preparation for submitting a Transportation Economic Assistance matching grant proposal to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The grant will be used to help fund road work at the intersection of County Road T and County Road J. Approval was contingent on attorney Tim Scott securing a master agreement and additional insured binder with a noncontributor clause. The 50 percent local match can come from any combination of local, federal or private funds or in-kind services. Eligible programs include road, rail, harbor and airport projects.
Trustees also approved spending $29,692.14 to purchase and install a Modular Cover System for the wastewater treatment facility. The cover will prevent freezing temperatures from negatively impacting bacterial activity. In the past, decreased activity has lead to issues meeting Department of Natural Resources mandated nutrient levels including phosphorus.
• Trustees initially tabled a motion to make a final TID payment in the amount of $134,416.95 to Guy Metals. They then rescinded that motion and approved the payment contingent on further review by Scott.
• Trustees approved the purchase of two new pieces of equipment for the village including a new lawn mower for $3,566 and skid steer for $2,032.67.
