Borgschatz promoted to chief deputy in St. Croix County

St. Croix County’s investigative lieutenant was promoted Friday to second in command at the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Scott Knudson announced Cathy Borgschatz will serve as the department’s chief deputy. Knudson previously served in the role before being appointed sheriff by Gov. Scott Walker after Knudson's predecessor, John Shilts, retired in July.

Borgschatz received the unanimous recommendation by a panel of law enforcement officials, including an area police chief and three sheriffs.

“Taking into account all the positives each candidate brought to the table, this panel unanimously agreed with the decision to appoint Cathy Borgschatz as the next chief deputy for St. Croix County,” Knudson wrote in a statement.

Borgschatz assumes the new role immediately.
