Beverley Torgerson, age 92, of Hudson, died peacefully Friday, January 12th at Christian Community Home in Hudson with family surrounding her. Bev was born on May 3, 1925 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harley and Eunice (Larkins) Askey. She was raised in New Richmond, where she graduated from high school. Bev furthered her education by attaining her registered nurse license from Hamline University and Asbury Hospital. On August 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Douglas Torgerson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked as a nurse in Madison, Wisconsin and later near Chicago as a school nurse.
Bev was an accomplished seamstress, creating gowns for prom and Homecoming goers, brides, and their wedding parties throughout the region. She loved to read and participate enthusiastically in water aerobics. She cherished traveling around the country and world with Doug, including visits to their far-flung children.
Bev will remain in the hearts of her husband Doug; children Kathy (Evan) Klingsberg of Philadelphia, Eric (Layne) Torgerson of Kauai, Hawaii, Robin Torgerson of Pine River, Minnesota; grandchildren Erin, Ali, Kendall, Juliette Kay; and her brother Raymond (Marie) Askey of Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her eight other siblings.
A memorial service for Bev Torgerson will be 11AM Saturday January 27th at the United Methodist Church in Hudson. Interment will be at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park. Honorary urnbearers will be Ginny Bertelsen, Lorraine McGrew, Amy Fetzner, Sally Friedlander, Beth Polgren, Carol Watson, and Kathy Anderson. Visitation will be on Friday January 26th from 3pm to 6pm at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson as well as one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering a donation to Grace Place in New Richmond WI or the Hudson United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
