Letter: Music group thanks community for support

To the Editor:

On behalf of Fundamentally Sound A Cappella, I would like to thank the people of New Richmond for welcoming us so warmly into their community.

I extend a special thanks to Jim and Jodi Saliny, Patty Van Nevel, Don and Naomi Stovall, Cheryl and Peter Boetcher, Terri and Tim Schreiner and Kate and Michael Haugen for taking us into their homes. Without their generous hospitality our tour wouldn't have happened.

I would also like to thank the New Richmond Fine Arts Council for setting up what turned out to be an amazing concert before a more-than-full house at the Gem Theater.

Our greatest love, as a group, is sharing our passion with others. Everywhere we performed we were greeted with smiling faces; we left to thunderous applause.

Everyone we encountered from the Middle School choir room, to the St. Mary's gymnasium, to the High School auditorium, to Mrs. Stovall's third grade classroom, humbled us with their excitement and interest.

In all of my time with this group, I've never seen our passion for performance reflected back so strongly on the faces of an audience.

To everyone who came to the show at the Gem Theater: you were part of one of the biggest groups we've ever performed for; we had people sitting in the aisles and on the edge of the stage. That has never happened to us before.

To put it simply: our visit to New Richmond was amazing. If you'll have us, we'd love to come back.

Before I sign off, I have to take this opportunity to congratulate the New Richmond boys' basketball team. We sang the National Anthem to open up for the Tiger's 59-54 victory over the Menomonie Indians. We're thrilled to have been even a small part of their impressive season.

Go Tigers!
