New Website FAQ's

Q: Why was the decision made to upgrade the Website?
A: We always strive to provide all of our website viewers with the best possible experience. We have upgraded the way our news is brought to you through streamlined navigation, enhanced search capabilities, and a new design that is both stylish and intuitive to the needs of our website viewers.

Q: Why is the website appearing odd or out-of-order?
A: You might be viewing our website in Internet Explorer Version 6. Our new and improved website uses features and styles not supported by this version of Internet Explorer. If you are noticing undesirable results (menu vertical not horizontal, and/or other layout issues) when viewing our new Web site, please update your version of internet explorer. You may also try other web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox (Click to Download).

Q: I can't log on to the new New Richmond News Web site. What's happening?
A: The New Richmond News has updated its Web site, which is why you are experiencing difficulties. Even though you may already have an active account with us, you will be required to log in again as though it's your first time. The technology requires this, but you'll only have to do it once. After that, you should be able to access the site as easily as you always have.

Q: When I go to log in again, it's asking me for my password, but I don't remember it. What should I do?
A: At the bottom of the login page is a button that says "reset my password". There you can enter your e-mail address and New Richmond News can send you a new password so that you can successfully log on.

CLICK HERE to visit our login page and reset your password.

Q: When I go to login to my account, I notice a login choice "Facebook Connect". What is this?
A: This is a new feature on our site allowing you to login to our site using your Facebook account. The value of Facebook connect is that if you are logged into Facebook already, our site recognizes that and if you've connected Facebook to our site, there's no need to log into both sites. It's a nice time-saver too, because you'll no longer need to remember your New Richmond News account information. Just log in at any time with your Facebook account.
We respect users privacy settings via Facebook and the functionality of our sites conform to the privacy settings each user sets on Facebook.

Q: How do I use Facebook Connect?
A: When you choose to connect your New Richmond News account to Facebook, the process is pretty simple. You simply log into Facebook and when you're prompted to log into our site, you should choose the option to sign in with Facebook. You'll then be asked (one time) for your New Richmond News account information (so we can make the connection). After that, you'll never be asked for it again, since we will recognize your Facebook account. If you do not have a New Richmond News account, you'll be asked to register (one time), which is pretty simple.

Q: My New Richmond News Web bookmarks don't work. How can I get them back?
A: If you have bookmarks on your computer set to The New Richmond News's homepage or to any other page within the New Richmond News site, you will have to re-bookmark them by finding the page you want to mark and going to "Favorites" under your navigation bar and clicking "add to favorites" or "add to bookmarks." You should only have to do this one time.

Q: The navigation menu is no longer along the left-hand side of the homepage. How can I find what I'm looking for?
A: The menu that used to run vertically along the left-hand side of the homepage now can be found horizontally at the top of the homepage. By clicking on any of those tabs at the top of the page, you will be automatically directed to that section of the Web site. You can also search for more specific content if you'd like. For example, when you click on the "Lifestyle" tab at the top of the page, you also will be given a list of sub-categories that contain content from the Lifestyle Category. In other words, if you only are interested in reading about Arts and Entertainment, you can click on "Arts and Entertainment" and be directed to an archive of only Arts and Entertainment articles.

Q: What's a quick way on the new site to find stories I'm interested. I knew where to look before, but now I don't know.
A: All of the same content you've come to rely on at newrichmond-news.com is still there. One of the best new features of the site is the larger search bar in the top right-hand corner of the homepage. By typing a keyword in this space, you will be directed to a page filled with related content. It's much improved from our previous search bar, and you will more easily be able to find content with our new site.
