Five Wisconsin coaches part of McDonald's All-American high school basketball games

Five Wisconsin coaches will take part in the annual McDonald's All-American high school basketball games to be played in Milwaukee on March 26.

Tom Diener of Milwaukee Vincent and Jim Gosz of Milwaukee King will be the boys' head coaches for the West All-Stars.

Marc Mitchell of Milwaukee Custer will be a boys' assistant.

Tom Klawitter of Janesville Parker will lead the girls' West squad and Heidi Hamilton of Hartland Arrowhead will be his assistant.

The selections were announced Thursday.

The McDonald's games feature the top high school players in the country. Badger forward Brian Butch played when he starred in Appleton.

The coaching selections are based on merit and there's no guarantee that local mentors are chosen.

For that reason, Gosz calls the McDonald's selection the pinnacle of his profession. Hamilton said the game wasn't around when she played in high school - so coaching it is the next best thing.
