Instant replay zaps Florida's Ross Gload homer at Miller Park

History was almost made at Miller Park last night, when Florida's Ross Gload had a two-run homer taken off the books because the umpires ruled it foul after reviewing a replay.

The replay system had been in effect since last August for home run calls.

But none were ever taken off the board until Pittsburgh's Adam LaRoche had it happen Wednesday night, 2.5 hours before Gload's blast was nullified.

Gload was pinch-hitting in the sixth when his shot to the right-field corner cleared the 8-foot wall. First base umpire Bruce Dreckman called it fair.

The Brewers' Corey Hart and Prince Fielder argued, and the umpires then went to their first-ever replay review in Milwaukee.

They took just 2 minutes before deciding the ball was foul. The Marlins did argue that decision.
