St. Croix Central volleyball earns first D-SC win

The St. Croix Central volleyball team was able to earn its first Dunn-St. Croix Conference victory of the season last Tuesday.

In front of a large crowd for Parents Night and Senior Night, the Panthers rolled past Glenwood City 25-19, 25-16, 19-25, 25-15. This was the Panthers’ second win over Glenwood City this season. The Panthers beat Glenwood City in a tournament in the first week of the season for their first victory.

Things didn’t go as well for the Panthers when they trekked to Mondovi last Thursday. The Lady Buffs are expected to be one of the top teams in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference this season and they showed why on Thursday. The Panthers lost the match 25-7, 25-11, 25-18.

Panther co-coach Julia Foley said the team tried a number of different approaches, but nothing worked at stopping Mondovi’s momentum.

Next up for the Panthers are a pair of road trips. The Panthers will play at Plum City on Thursday and at Spring Valley next Tuesday. Both are conference matches.
