Somerset coach Bruce Larson to be inducted into UW-River Falls Hall of Fame

Somerset High School football coach will be inducted into the UW-River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.

Bruce Larson will be inducted into the UW-River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies this weekend.

Larson played football for the Falcons from 1983-86. He was a member of three conference winning championship football teams (1984, 1985, 1986). Larson has been the head football coach at Somerset High School since 1999 and has led the Spartans to two WIAA State Championships (2002, 2012) and three runner-up finishes (2004, 2005, 2011). His teams have qualified for the state playoffs 13 times, including the past 11 years in a row. Entering the 2013 season his teams had a 136-35 record.

A banquet honoring the inductees will be held from 6-9 p.m., on Friday in the University Center Ballroom. Tickets for the banquet can be purchased by calling the University Foundation office at 715-425-3505. Coach Larson won’t be able to attend the banquet on Friday night. He’s got a previous engagement, coaching the Somerset football team in its game at Baldwin-Woodville.

On Saturday the inductees will ride in the Homecoming Parade that runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and they will be recognized at halftime of the UWRF football game against UW-Platteville that starts at 1 p.m. at Ramer Field.
