Thursday's Results: New Richmond tennis loses to top MBC opponent

The weather of the past two days resulted in an abbreviated schedule of high school sports events for Thursday.

The New Richmond tennis team took on one of its main rivals in the Middle Border Conference, hosting Eau Claire Regis. The team result came down to the final match, with Regis getting the 4-3 victory.

All of New Richmond's wins came in singles, with Russ Hop, Stuart Pearson and Trent Ziebol earning wins.

In other action:

-- The St. Croix Central track teams handily swept the team championships in a quad track meet at Prescott.

-- The St. Croix Central baseball team also traveled to Prescott, but didn't get the same results. The Panthers continued to struggle at the plate, losing to the Cardinals, 6-1.

-- The Somerset softball team tried to come back in the seventh inning at Osceola, but their uprising fell short. Alex Jents delivered a two-run double in the seventh inning, but the Spartans couldn't get Jents home, finishing with a 4-3 loss to the Chieftains.

-- The Somerset girls soccer team earned its third straight shutout, defeating Spooner 7-0.
